roots

I grew up rurally in the prairies, close to the heart of Canada, and started carving when I got my first jackknife sometime before the age of 10. I can’t be certain whether it was given to me or where I got it from but the most interesting thing I found to do with it was whittling. Two of the first things I remember carving were a candle stick with a flame on top (I am equally obsessed with fire as I am with sharp knives) and a shrew sized canoe that I later sent down the brook at my aunt’s farm.

I carved on and off since then and started pursuing it more seriously in late 2017 when I wanted to produce wares for a market. I started creating and selling spoons because they are a simple, practical product for the public. When I began to hear people saying the spoons and carved serving boards were too nice to use… I saw the potential to take more creative risks in my work!

I continue growing both my mental and physical carving toolbox practicing my craft part time.

Thanks for stopping in, I appreciate your interest in my work :)
